LEVEL I 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Lugano
Come back to yourself.
Everything else follows.
A journey to reconnect with yourself through the wisdom of Kundalini Yoga, in Lugano.
Imagine Yoga Academy's Level I 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Lugano is a hybrid programme combining four in-person weekends at TBD Lugano with weekly live online sessions and a four-day closing retreat in the Swiss Alps. The training is certified by Yoga Alliance, taught in English, and limited to a maximum of 15 students. It is designed for people seeking to reconnect with themselves — whether or not they intend to teach. No previous yoga experience is required. The next cohort begins October 17, 2026.
The recognition
There is a moment that arrives without warning.
You are in a meeting. You are in your home. You are walking back to your apartment after another evening that looked, from the outside, like everything was fine.
And something in you, says: this is not it.
Not the job. Not the relationship. Not the body. You. The version of you that has been holding everything together for everyone, for so long, that you have stopped recognising the person in the mirror.
Sometimes it's loud, sometimes not. That is part of what makes it harder to name.
And underneath lies a question: who am I, beyond all the doing?
A story from inside this room
For years she searched outside — through work, study, people. Then she walked into a Sadhana room and stopped searching.
For a long time Marilena looked for answers outside herself — through work, experiences, studies, people. The kind of searching that keeps you busy but never quite arrives. When she opened to the quest of the self, Kundalini Yoga found her.
She walked into a room in Zürich to begin her Teacher Training with Imagine Academy, not knowing it would change the way she felt within herself. Two years of intense study and practice — though the real journey, she says, had begun much earlier, in an inner space simply waiting to be remembered. It was not a rational encounter. It was recognition.
The first time she sat in the Sadhana room, the feeling was immediate: like coming home after wandering for a long time. Today she is our local partner and Teacher Trainer in Ticino.
The moment I stopped searching outside, something essential returned. — Marilena Capobianco · Local Partner & Teacher Trainer, Lugano
If you recognise yourself in her story — someone who has been looking outside for a long time and is starting to suspect the real answer is somewhere closer — this is the room you have been waiting to walk into.
The path
Yoga is not the goal, you are.
Our Level I 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training it's a deeply supportive journey to uncover your true self and awaken your inner guidance. You are welcome to join us whether you're exploring healing, growth, or new possibilities.
Yoga is a method of self-knowledge, refined over thousands of years, designed to help you live a life that comes from your own truth.
The ancient teachers were clear about the premise: the only way to suffer less is to live a life designed from your truth. But, how do you design a life from your truth, if you do not yet fully know what your truth is?
This is what Imagine's Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training is for: a guided, structured, and supported encounter with yourself, alongside experienced teachers and a community walking the same path.
"You are not only a yoga student here. You are a person meeting yourself, and we hold a safe space for you to do it."

Voices from inside
What changes, when something changes.
My learnings have not only been about kriyas, mantras, breathwork and meditation. It has been much deeper learning, which is possible if you let it happen. Dive in, let it happen, and changes will take place much easier.
It demands consistency, but it is so much worth it. Go and meet your soul. You will not be the same after this training. Your heart will bloom. Your vision of the world will change, and your daily life will improve for the good.
The experience has been wonderful, but above all revealing. It is the best money I have invested in a long time. Thank you Imagine, thank you.
How the 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Lugano is structured
The seven layers of the human experience.
The training is structured around the seven chakras, not as an abstract energy theory, but as a path for uncovering your truth. Each module explores one chakra through the practice of kriyas, pranayamas, meditations, mantras, and yogic philosophy.
It is a personal journey: from the deepest and most intimate parts of yourself, toward the higher self that connects you with everyone and everything.
The first layer is everything that holds you up. Your story. Your body. The ground beneath your feet. We begin here because nothing else holds without this. The first chakra is about survival, roots, belonging and letting go.
The second layer is the universe of emotions. Most of us have learned to edit what we feel before we have even felt it, polishing it for others, controlling it in ourselves. Here we allow it. We learn that the soul speaks through emotion, and that desire, when it is clean, is fuel.
The third layer is where we revise our personal power and remember that we did not come to life just to survive. The first chakra is about standing on your feet. The third is about holding your ground.
The heart has two movements: opening, and protecting. We cannot live disconnected from others. And we cannot pour from an empty self. Compassion does not mean setting yourself on fire to keep someone else warm. Here we learn the rare art of staying open and staying whole at the same time.
Words are vibration, and vibration becomes life. The question is: what life are you shaping with your words? Here we learn to speak from truth instead of performance, to use the voice as connection, not defence.
This is where we clear the noise from the mind and find clarity. In this layer we close the gap between knowing what to do and doing it.
The path opens, and returns, in connection. The seventh layer is the recognition that you are part of a whole, and that everything you do touches it. Every layer before was preparing you for this.
What you learn: the full curriculum
Ancient wisdom applied to modern life.
Underneath the seven layers runs a body of craft refined over thousands of years. The philosophy. The science of the practice. The mind. The breath. The sound. We teach all of it, with rigor, and without dogma.
Why this method has survived
What thousands of years of practice have taught us about the human being, and what neuroscience, psychology and science are beginning to confirm about why it works. Yoga as a path to reconnect with your true self applied to life.
What Kundalini actually is
What Kundalini energy is. What awakening your Kundalini means, and what it does not. Where the Kundalini Yoga lineage comes from, and why Kundalini Yoga differs so much from other forms of yoga. Honest answers to questions other schools rarely make space for.
The daily practice that holds a life
The art of Sadhana. How to build one of your own. The forty-day practices, and the longer ones beyond them. Aradhana, the deeper offering. What to expect, and what not to. The discipline that makes everything else possible.
The Mind and how it works.
Developing the skill of focus.
The three minds — the Protective Mind, the Projective Mind, and the Meditative Mind — and how each one serves a different layer of your life. The cycle of intellect. Drishtis: focus techniques that help the mind settle and learn to see clearly. Where much of our suffering begins, and where it can end.
The most precise tool you have.
The mechanics of breath, and why pranayama is one of the most exact tools we have. Foundational pranayamas. Bandhas. The philosophy behind posture. Alignment for the body you actually have. Freeing the hips and shoulders. Understanding the body, and the wisdom within the asanas.
The power of focus and vibration.
Sound affects the body, the mind, and the nervous system. Kundalini Yoga preserved this understanding and made it practical. You will learn how mantra, rhythm, repetition, and breath work together to shift attention and emotional states. The foundational mantras of the practice, their meaning, their origins, and how to use them in a grounded and honest way. Static and dynamic meditations. Meditation with mantra, and meditation in silence.
What makes us unique.
Experienced teachers
Our teachers have been practicing and teaching Kundalini Yoga for more than 20 years. And since 2012, we have graduated +900 Kundalini Yoga Teachers worldwide.
No dogma. No rules about who you should be.
You will not be told what to wear, what to eat, what to believe, or who to be. We teach yoga as a method of deep self-knowledge, a way to reconnect with yourself more honestly. How you walk that path is something only you can decide.
No advanced student. No beginner.
There is no right way to have the experience. You give what you have on the day, and that is always enough.
Personalized support throughout.
Our team offers guidance at every stage of the training. You will have individual time with the lead trainers and teacher trainers through all the program.
Something happens here that does not happen in most rooms.
Most of our students are still in touch with their group years after the training ends. Not because we engineered a community, but because something happens in this container. Our students keep using one word for it. Family.

Marilena Capobianco
Local Partner & Teacher Trainer · Lugano[PLACEHOLDER: Teaching credentials — year completed Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training with Imagine, years teaching in Lugano, any additional certifications.]
For Marilena, Kundalini is the stable root from which everything else can grow — like classical ballet for all other forms of dance. Once you know the foundation, you are free to move wherever life calls you, while honoring the roots that brought you back to yourself.
"Kundalini opened a profound doorway within me. It awakened a deep desire to truly know myself and to bring forward the hidden parts of my essence."
More voices
Not what they expected. Better than what they expected.
The most magical part of this teacher's training is that you are, from the very first day, part of a family. The course is well rounded, physical, spiritual, philosophical. There is a sense of freedom which I loved, and you and your unique being is a priority over any teachings.
I was looking for community, a place to feel a belonging, and this is exactly what this school has given me. The professionalism of the teachers was second to none. They were always there for me, encouraged us with no judgement, and only showed love and kindness whenever a challenge arose.
It became a pillar of stability and acceptance during my process of adaptation to a new country. Finding myself in a safe space with people from many backgrounds was enriching and inspiring at the same time. I found people I keep in touch with as close friends.
It's not dogmatic. I can come as I am. Nobody is telling me what to be. That is the best thing you can give yourself.

Book a discovery callThe next step
Book a call before you book a seat.
The energy in the room will be the energy of the people in the room. This is why we take much care in who sits with us. As well, we want you to decide with full information, and we want to be sure we are the right teachers for what you are searching for.
The call is the way we do that. Twenty minutes with Daniela Troconis or Pedro Misle. You ask the questions you have not seen answered on this page. We get a sense of where you are, and whether this is the right training for this moment in your life. Sometimes it is not, and we say so.
The room is fifteen people. We want it to be the right fifteen.
Book your call with usCommon questions before enrolling
You are probably asking yourself one of these.
"I don't want to teach yoga. Is this still for me?"
About half of our students take the training as a path to reconnect with themselves, with no intention of teaching. The 200h is built as a journey within yourself. The certification is yours to use, or not.
"I am not flexible / not advanced / not spiritual enough."
There are no advanced students here, and no beginners either. Yoga is not the goal, it is the tool. The goal is self discovery that becomes self knowledge. This process only requires your commitment and honesty.
"I don't have time for something like this."
The format is built around real lives. Four weekends across the year, online sessions you follow at your own pace, and one closing retreat. Most people who do this are working full time. If you miss a Lugano date, you can recover it in Zürich or Geneva. The harder question is not whether you have time. It's what you're spending it on.
"I am too late. I have missed the moment."
The average age of our students is between 40 and 50. Many arrive at exactly the moment you are arriving, when the structure they built no longer fits. We have had students that come at 19 and others at 70 — they are all welcome, there is no wrong time for joining. The training is not for who you were. It is for who you are about to meet.
"What if I cannot make a seminar weekend?"
If something comes up, work, illness, family, you can recover the content through the online platform, or attend the same seminar in Zürich or Lugano. All of our students are very busy people, we have designed the programme thinking about this.
"I am worried it will be too dogmatic / too spiritual / too cult-like."
We have heard this concern from people who came in cautious and stayed for years. Imagine teaches Kundalini Yoga free of dogma. We do not invoke gurus. We do not require anyone to dress, eat, or believe in any particular way. We do not teach yoga as a system of rules. We teach it as a method of self-knowledge.

What is the difference between Kundalini Yoga and other yogas?
Kundalini Yoga is known as the yoga of awareness as all its techniques are oriented to help the practitioner to reconnect with their true self and find the courage to design and live a life from that knowledge. It combines breath work, movement, mantra, and meditation to work directly on the nervous system and mental focus. The practice in Kundalini Yoga is a tool, not the goal — the goal is self-knowledge and connecting with our essence.
How is Imagine Yoga Academy different from other Kundalini Yoga schools?
Imagine teaches Kundalini Yoga free of dogma. We do not require students to adopt any particular belief system, dress code, or lifestyle. We do not invoke gurus. We teach yoga as a method of self-knowledge, grounded in practice, philosophy, and personal experience, not in rules. We have been doing this since 2012 with over 900 students.
Can I join the Lugano training if I already have yoga experience in another style?
Yes. Many of our students come from Hatha, Vinyasa, or other yoga backgrounds. The 200h training begins from the foundations of Kundalini Yoga specifically, so prior experience in other styles is welcome but not assumed. And if you already are a 200h Yoga Teacher of any other style you are welcome to join our Level II 300h Kundalini Yoga Advanced Teacher Training.

Something in you already knows whether this is yours.
You did not arrive at this page by accident. You searched for something. You scrolled to the end. The question that brought you here is still the question. The training does not answer it for you. It gives you the time, the structure, and the company to answer it yourself.
