The Space Between You and You
There are moments when you're no longer who you were, but not yet who you're becoming. That in-between can feel uncertain, uncomfortable — even lonely. And yet, it's one of the most sacred spaces we'll ever walk through.
Listen now
You know that feeling when something in your life has already shifted — a job, a relationship, the way you see the world — but the next version of you hasn't yet bloomed completely? It's often uncomfortable. Uncertain. And yet, it's sacred.
Daniela remembers her own moment of deep transition. In Barcelona in 2007, working as a graphic designer on Passeig de Gràcia — long hours, constant pressure, and yet something inside kept calling for change. Not external change, but an inner one. When she saw the possibility of joining a yoga training, something lit up. She had no idea where that first decision would lead.
Psychologists call this a liminal phase — a threshold moment. It's the space between endings and beginnings, when the old identity is dissolving but the new one hasn't yet formed. Our instinct is to fill it quickly. But real transformation asks for stillness.
3 Key Takeaways From This Episode
- 01 The pause is where transformation begins. Our instinct is to fill the in-between quickly. But the liminal phase — that threshold between endings and beginnings — is where the real reorganization happens. Stillness is not waiting. It's allowing.
- 02 Kundalini Yoga holds you through the in-between. The kriyas, mantras, and breath give energy a path to flow during integration. The practice doesn't rush the process — it creates a container that honors it.
- 03 You don't have to walk through it slowly. If you already recognize you're in that space of becoming, you can choose to step directly into immersion. Surrender is often faster than strategy.

Recognition of the Pause
We all reach a point where the old ways no longer fit. Something inside whispers: "I can't keep doing it like this." At first, you try to make small adjustments — work less, meditate more, take a weekend off — but deep down, you know it's not about doing. It's about becoming.
I remember my own moment of deep transition. I was living in Barcelona in 2007. Even though I had been practicing Hatha Yoga for a while, I began to do Kundalini more regularly. At the time, I was working as a graphic designer in a beautiful studio on Passeig de Gràcia. Long hours, constant pressure, and yet… I wasn't happy. Something inside me kept calling for change — not so much external change, but an inner one.
When I saw the possibility of joining a yoga training, something lit up inside me. So there I was — a Venezuelan in Barcelona, with a "good" job, knowing I wanted something different but having no idea where that first decision would lead. I started the training, and for the next few years I lived in that space of becoming — nurturing a new version of myself while still holding on to the old.
Psychologists call this a liminal phase — a threshold moment. It's the space between endings and beginnings, when the old identity is dissolving but the new one hasn't yet formed. Our instinct is to fill it quickly. But real transformation asks for stillness.
In Kundalini Yoga, this is mirrored in the breath. Between the inhale and the exhale there is a pause — a sacred still point. We call this Khumbbhaka. And in those pauses, energy reorganizes itself. When we learn to rest in those spaces instead of rushing, clarity begins to emerge naturally.
The Power of Staying
In those spaces of becoming, the mind feels lost. The heart feels tender. And underneath, your whole system is rewiring itself. Neuroscience calls this integration — the process where new neural connections begin to form after change. It's why we need rest after intense learning or deep emotional experiences: the body needs time to catch up to the soul.
In Kundalini Yoga, we don't force that process — we hold it. Through movement, breath, and mantra, we give energy a path to flow again. Over the years, I've watched people go through this process — uncertain, doubting, sometimes a little fragile — and within weeks, something softens. Not because life suddenly becomes easy, but because they stop fighting the in-between.
Immersion and Trust
At some point, we realize that small steps are no longer enough. We sense that we need more than tools — we need space. A container, a rhythm, a practice that can hold us while everything rearranges. That's what immersion offers.
And here's the thing: you don't have to pass through every stage slowly. When you recognize that you're in that space of becoming, you can choose to step directly into immersion. Because sometimes, the fastest way forward isn't to move faster — it's to surrender deeper.
Closing
Receive a deep breath. Ask yourself: Am I standing in the space between what was and what's next? Have I been trying to fix, control, or rush through the pause? What would it feel like to trust that this in-between might be the most powerful part of the journey?
Remember: you don't have to know what's coming. You only have to stay open and allow your inner wisdom to guide you so the transformation can unfold from within.
