When the Time Is on You, Start, and the Pressure Will Be Off

HostDaniela Troconis
Duration10 min
TopicThird Sutra · Overwhelm · Action · Present Moment · Aquarian Age

The pressure builds as long as you stay in your mind. The moment you take one step, something shifts. That's not a metaphor — it's the third Sutra.

Overwhelm has become almost ordinary. We keep telling ourselves we just need a better plan, more certainty, more confidence. But Daniela points to something the third Aquarian Sutra makes explicit: thinking is not the path out. Movement is.

Daniela begins with a distinction the third Sutra makes precise: we cannot think ourselves into right action. No amount of analyzing, predicting, or rehearsing will replace standing up and starting. In a world that demands constant mental processing, this can feel counterintuitive. But the sutra names something we've all experienced — that the pressure of an undone thing is far heavier than the actual doing of it.

The source of overwhelm, she explains, is not the task but the mind's relationship to it. When we stay in the head, we time-travel: backward into regret and forward into worst-case futures. The present moment — where action is possible — becomes inaccessible. The Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in Lugano uses breath and movement for exactly this reason: to bring students back into the body and therefore into the now, the only place where anything can actually be done.

The practical core of this episode is simple: when you feel the clock pressing against you, don't negotiate with your mind. Take one step. Then the next. Action creates the present-moment conditions that thinking cannot produce. You discover you can — because you're doing it.

“The pressure is not just the deadline. It's the distance between knowing and doing.”

3 Key Takeaways From This Episode

  • 01 Thinking is not the path out of overwhelm. The mind believes that if it just had more clarity, more certainty, a better plan, it could begin. But the clarity usually comes through action, not before it. Starting is the thing that makes starting feel possible.
  • 02 Overwhelm lives in time travel, not the present. When we're overwhelmed, we're usually in the past (replaying what should have been done) or in the future (projecting what might go wrong). Action brings us back to now — and now is manageable. The sutra is a prescription for returning to the present.
  • 03 One step changes the whole nervous system. You don't need the whole path visible before you move. A single step shifts the internal experience from "I can't" to "I am." From that place, the next step becomes available. The pressure doesn't disappear, but it loses its grip.

Kundalini Yoga combines breathwork, movement, meditation, and mantra into a single practice. Unlike more physically focused styles, it works directly with the nervous system and aims to create self-knowledge from the inside out. Daniela Troconis explores the third Sutra of the Aquarian Age: "When the time is on you, start — and the pressure will be off." She unpacks why the pressure of an undone task comes from staying in the mind rather than moving into action, and why no amount of planning produces the clarity that one step of movement creates. This episode speaks to anyone who recognizes the experience of paralysis in the face of demands — the gap between knowing and doing. Anyone going through the 200h Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training at Imagine Yoga Academy in Geneva, Zürich, or Lugano will recognize this inquiry: the training repeatedly brings students to the edge of their comfort zone and asks them to begin anyway.

The Third Sutra of the Aquarian Age

Today we continue our series on the Five Sutras of Kundalini Yoga for the Aquarian Age — teachings designed as practical guidance for navigating a time that asks more of us than ever before. Today we explore the Third Sutra: When the time is on you, start — and the pressure will be off.

At first glance, it sounds simple. Almost too simple. But it speaks directly to one of the most common experiences of our time: overwhelm.

We Cannot Think Our Way Into Action

There is a fundamental truth this Sutra reminds us of: we cannot think ourselves into right action. No amount of analyzing, rehearsing, predicting, or mentally preparing will replace the simple act of standing up and doing the thing.

So often, when we feel overwhelmed, we stay in our heads. We try to think our way into clarity. We replay the past. We anticipate the future. We tell ourselves we just need a better plan, more certainty, more confidence. But while we are thinking, we are not moving. And the pressure builds.

The pressure is not just the deadline. The pressure is the distance between knowing and doing.

Action Brings Us Into the Present

And then something shifts the moment we begin. When we finally take one step — however small — we feel that we can. Because action brings us into the present. The past and all its weight lose their hold. The future and all its catastrophes lose their fuel.

We are not victims of time. We are participants in it. And participation begins with movement.

So the next time you feel the clock pressing against you — do not argue with your mind. Stand up. Take one step. And let that step guide the next one. When the time is on you, start — and the pressure will be off. Sat Nam.
