Kundalini Yoga Glossary
Pituitary Gland
The gland linked to intuition, stimulated by slow breath and by the pineal gland's own activity.
Meaning
What Pituitary Gland Means
The pituitary gland is stimulated through the breath and through meditation, and is closely linked to intuition. The manual describes a chain reaction: when the pineal gland radiates, it creates an impulse in the pituitary gland, and when the pituitary gland gives its own impulse, the entire glandular system secretes.
It is listed as the gland of the sixth chakra, Ajna, and is also associated with the Arc Line, the sixth of the Ten Bodies, which regulates the nervous system and glandular balance through the pituitary gland.

How It’s Used
Breath rate is the most direct lever: breathing at eight breaths per minute or slower begins to stimulate the pituitary gland and develop intuition; below four breaths per minute, the manual describes meditation becoming automatic.
Certain postures also affect it directly. Leg angles above one meter, along with the frontal lobe stimulation reported after 62 minutes of a meditation, are both described as reaching the pituitary and pineal glands. Awakening the pituitary gland is also given as the key to balancing the Arc Line.
