Kundalini Yoga Glossary
Soul Body
The first of the Ten Bodies: the connection to inner infinity, lived from the heart rather than the head.
Meaning
What Soul Body Means
The Soul Body is the first of the Ten Bodies in Kundalini Yoga, associated with Guru Nanak and the themes of humility and creativity. It connects a person to their inner infinity, the experience of the flow of spirit within themselves.
When the Soul Body is strong, a person lives by the heart instead of the head, and creativity flows in a simple, pure way. The soul is described as the individual expression of spirit, holding the basic nuclear energy of a person's own foundational self.
In Practice
How It’s Used
If the Soul Body is weak, a person may operate from the head instead of the heart, feeling stuck and unable to access their purpose or creative flow.
The key to balancing the Soul Body is to raise the Kundalini and open the heart. Because the root of disease is said to begin in one of the Ten Bodies before manifesting outwardly, strengthening the Soul Body is treated as foundational to strengthening every other body.
