Ek Ong Kar
The Creator and the Creation are One: the opening phrase of the Mul Mantra.
Meaning
What Ek Ong Kar Means
Ek Ong Kar opens the Mul Mantra, Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Kartaa Purkh, and is also the first line of the Adi Shakti Mantra, Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru. The manual translates the Adi Shakti Mantra as: the Creator and the Creation are One. This is our True Identity.
In a shorter chant used in meditation, Ek Ong Kaar-a, Saa Taa Naa Maa-a, Siri Wahaa-a, Hey Gu-Ruu, the same opening is translated as One Creator Creation, followed by True Identity, Great Indescribable Wisdom.
In Practice
How It’s Used
As the opening of the Adi Shakti Mantra, Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru is chanted every morning at the start of Aquarian Sadhana, in its Long Chant form, also called Long Ek Ong Kar or the Morning Call. It can also be chanted on its own, without the long chant format.
According to the Kundalini Yoga tradition, this is considered the mantra of the Aquarian Age.
